Speed changes and audio pitch
When you double the speed, audio pitch rises by an octave. When you halve it, pitch drops. The browser does not apply pitch correction, so voices at 0.5× will sound unnaturally deep. For speed changes with natural-sounding audio, a tool like CapCut or Adobe Premiere applies pitch correction automatically.
Time-lapse
4× is useful for creating a quick time-lapse from a screen recording or a static camera shot. The output file will be roughly one-quarter the duration of the original.

Does audio pitch change?
Yes. The browser plays and records at a different rate without pitch correction, so voices and music will sound higher at faster speeds and lower at slower speeds.
Why does processing take so long?
The browser plays the video at the new speed in real-time while recording. At 0.25× a 5-minute video takes 20 minutes to process. For slow motion, a native app is much faster.
Output is WebM.
That is the native format of the browser's MediaRecorder. Convert to MP4 with HandBrake if needed.
The video quality looks worse.
MediaRecorder re-encodes the video. At very slow speeds (0.25×) artefacts can appear. For professional results use a dedicated video editor.
