Each file is decoded into raw audio samples, the tracks are concatenated in order (with an optional gap of silence between them), then the whole thing is encoded into your chosen format. Because every file is fully decoded first, even a dozen short clips can take a minute or two.
Sample rate differences
If your files have different sample rates (44.1 kHz vs 48 kHz for example), the browser resamples them all to match the first file before joining. The result is seamless but a very slight quality loss occurs on the resampled tracks.
Podcast and voiceover assembly
This tool is handy for stitching together separate takes or adding a music intro to a voice recording. Set the gap to 0.5–1 second for a natural pause between segments.
Frequently asked questions
How many files can I merge?
No hard limit, but all files are decoded into memory simultaneously. On most devices, merging under 500 MB of audio total is reliable.
The volume levels are different between clips.
This tool joins the audio as-is without normalising volume. For level-matched output, use Audacity's Normalize effect or a dedicated mastering tool after merging.
Can I reorder the files?
The order follows the list. Remove files and re-add them to change the order, or add files one at a time in the sequence you want.
My files have different sample rates.
The browser resamples everything to match the first file's sample rate. The join is seamless.
