Scholarship & Funding Gap Calculator
Enter your total program cost alongside scholarships, grants, family contribution, savings and expected part-time work income to see your total funding, your remaining gap (or surplus), and what that gap works out to per year and per month.
See the real number you still need to find
Scholarships, grants, family contribution, savings and expected work income each chip away at your total program cost — but it's easy to lose track of how much is actually still uncovered until you add every source up in one place. This tool gives you that single remaining-gap number, or confirms you have a surplus.
Plan around the gap, not around hope
A gap per year or per month is far more actionable than one big number — it tells you exactly how much additional income, savings or loan amount you need to line up before each year or semester starts, rather than discovering the shortfall partway through.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I get the “total program cost” figure?
Use the study abroad cost estimator to build that number from tuition, housing, food and one-time costs, then enter the total here — the two tools are meant to be used together.
What if my gap comes out negative?
A negative gap means your funding exceeds your program cost — shown as a surplus. That's a good position to be in, since it gives you a buffer for unexpected costs or a currency swing.
Should I count part-time work income before I have a job offer?
Be conservative. Many student visas cap work hours, and part-time jobs aren't guaranteed — use the part-time work hours & earnings calculator to see a realistic maximum, and consider entering less than that maximum here.
Does this account for loans?
Not directly — the gap this tool shows is the amount not yet covered by scholarships, grants, family contribution, savings or work income. That gap is exactly the amount you'd typically need to cover with a loan or additional aid.
