Why you have to pick the conversion yourself

Understanding a request like "turn this invoice into Excel" needs an AI model to read and interpret the file — that requires a server, which means either an account or a cost per use. ConvertKit is built to be genuinely free with no server at all, so instead of guessing your intent, it gives you a specific list of real conversions to pick from. See the guide for what each tool actually does.

📄 Images to PDF

Combine one or more images into a single PDF.

Images to PDF

Choose one or more images — each becomes a page in the PDF, in the order you select them.

Processing…

How this works

Each image you choose is drawn onto its own page of a new PDF, scaled to fit your chosen page size (or sized to match the image itself). Order is preserved from how you select the files.

Good for

Turning a set of scanned pages or photos into one shareable document, without needing a scanner app or a paid PDF tool.

Other tools

🖼️ PDF to Images

Export every page of a PDF as a PNG image.

PDF to Images

Renders every page of your PDF as a separate PNG you can download.

Processing…

How this works

Each page of your PDF is rendered onto a canvas at a fixed resolution and exported as a PNG — this captures exactly what the page looks like, including images and formatting, rather than trying to extract editable content.

Good for

Getting a shareable image of one page from a longer document, or previewing PDF content somewhere images are easier to use than PDFs.

Other tools

📝 PDF to Text

Extract the raw text content from a PDF.

PDF to Text

Extracts the raw selectable text from a PDF. Scanned/image-only PDFs have no embedded text to extract — this doesn't OCR them.

Processing…

How this works

This reads the text layer embedded in your PDF — the same text you could normally select and copy in a PDF viewer — and extracts it page by page.

What it can't do

A scanned document or a photo saved as a PDF has no embedded text layer at all, just pixels — there's nothing to extract. That requires OCR (optical character recognition), which is a different, heavier process this tool doesn't include.

Other tools

📊 CSV to PDF Table

Turn a CSV file into a formatted PDF table.

CSV to PDF Table

Renders your CSV as a formatted table in a downloadable PDF.

Processing…

How this works

Your CSV's rows and columns are parsed and laid out as a formatted table in a new PDF, with the header row styled distinctly from the data rows.

Good for

Sharing a simple data table as a document that opens the same way for everyone, without needing them to have a spreadsheet program.

Other tools

📈 CSV to Excel

Convert a CSV file into a real .xlsx workbook.

CSV to Excel

Converts a CSV file into a real .xlsx workbook you can open in Excel or Sheets.

Processing…

How this works

Your CSV is parsed and written out as a genuine Excel workbook (.xlsx), not just a renamed CSV — it will open correctly in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet program with proper column structure.

Good for

Turning plain CSV exports (from a database, another tool, or an app) into a format your team can filter, format, and add formulas to.

Other tools

🔧 Excel/CSV to JSON

Turn spreadsheet rows into a JSON array.

Excel/CSV to JSON

Reads the first sheet of an Excel or CSV file and outputs it as a JSON array of row objects.

Processing…

How this works

The first row of your file is used as field names, and every row after that becomes one JSON object with those field names as keys — the standard "array of records" shape most APIs and scripts expect.

Good for

Feeding spreadsheet data into a script, an API, or any tool that expects JSON instead of tabular data.

Other tools

🗂️ JSON to Excel

Turn a JSON array of objects into a spreadsheet.

JSON to Excel

Paste a JSON array of objects (like [{"name":"Ali","age":30}]) and get a spreadsheet with matching columns.

JSON array

How this works

Every key across all objects in your JSON array becomes a column, and each object becomes one row — the reverse of the Excel/CSV to JSON tool.

Good for

Turning API output, exported app data, or a JSON file someone sent you into something you can open, sort, and filter in a spreadsheet.

Other tools

🖌️ Image Format Converter

Convert between PNG, JPG, and WebP.

Image Format Converter

Convert an image between PNG, JPG, and WebP.

Processing…

How this works

Your image is drawn onto a canvas and re-encoded in the target format — PNG (lossless, supports transparency), JPG (smaller file size, no transparency), or WebP (modern format, smaller than both with good quality).

Good for

Shrinking file size before uploading somewhere with a size limit, or getting PNG transparency support from a JPG-only source, or switching to WebP for a faster-loading website.

Other tools

🔷 Image to SVG Wrapper

Embed a raster image inside a valid SVG file.

Image to SVG Wrapper

Embeds your image inside a valid, scalable SVG file — useful anywhere an SVG format is required. This does not trace the image into true vector paths/shapes; it stays a raster image, just wrapped in SVG syntax.

Processing…
This wraps your existing pixels in an SVG container so it can be used where an .svg file is required — it does not turn a photo into a true vector illustration with editable shapes.

What this actually does — and doesn't

True image-to-vector conversion (turning a photo into scalable paths and shapes, like a logo you could edit in Illustrator) requires image tracing algorithms that work well on simple, high-contrast graphics but not on photographs — and doing it well is a much bigger undertaking than fits honestly into a quick free tool. This tool instead embeds your original image, unchanged, as a base64-encoded raster layer inside a valid SVG XML wrapper.

Why that's still useful

Some tools and upload forms specifically require a .svg file extension even when they'll happily display an embedded raster image inside it. This gets you a working .svg file for those cases — it will not scale up in quality the way a true vector graphic would, since the underlying pixels are unchanged.

What ConvertKit can and can't do

Every tool here does exactly what it says — no hidden AI, no guessing.

Why there's no "just tell me what you want" box

  • Understanding a request like "make this invoice into a spreadsheet" needs an AI model to read and interpret the file's content and layout — that requires a server, which means either an account, a cost per use, or both. ConvertKit is built to be genuinely free with nothing running on a server, so you pick the specific conversion from the list instead.

What's not included, and why

Audio/video transcription, receipt-to-spreadsheet, screenshot-to-HTML, and true document understanding (like PDF-to-editable-Word) all need a real AI model doing speech recognition, layout analysis, or content generation — the same reason PixKit doesn't do background removal. Video format conversion (like Video → GIF) needs a very large browser-side video codec library that's slow and unreliable enough in a browser tab that it didn't make the cut for a tool meant to just work.
