Cross-Border Order Cost Calculator

Estimate the true landed cost of an item ordered from an overseas store before you check out.

What does an item from an overseas store really cost?

The sticker price is rarely the final price. Once an order crosses a border it can pick up import duty, a currency conversion fee on the card charge, and a broker or customs handling fee — on top of international shipping. This tool adds all of that together into one landed-cost number so there are no surprises when the package (or the bill) arrives.

Rates are illustrative, not official

Import duty rates and duty-free thresholds (often called "de minimis") vary enormously by country and by the type of item — electronics, apparel and cosmetics are often taxed differently, and some categories are restricted or need a permit entirely. Always check your own country's customs authority or a licensed customs broker for the exact rate before you order — this calculator is for planning, not for a binding quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is the duty rate this tool uses accurate for my country?

No — this is a generic, illustrative calculator. Actual import duty rates and duty-free thresholds are set by each country's customs authority and depend on the product category. Look up your own country's current rules, or ask a customs broker, before you rely on a number for an actual purchase.

What is a duty-free threshold (de minimis)?

It's the value below which an imported item isn't charged duty at all. Many countries have one, but the amount differs widely and some have none — set it to 0 here if you're not sure, to see the more conservative (higher-cost) estimate.

Why is there a currency conversion fee?

If the store charges you in a foreign currency, your card network or bank typically applies a conversion markup — often 1-3% — on top of the item price. It's a real cost even though it isn't shown at checkout.

Does this account for items that are restricted or need a permit?

No. Some products (certain electronics, food, cosmetics, batteries) may be restricted, require a license, or be banned outright depending on the destination country. Confirm your item is allowed before ordering, separately from the cost estimate here.
