This tool has no live exchange rate — enter today's rate from a source you trust, and convert any amount between two currencies, both ways, instantly.
This tool has no live exchange rate. No rate is pre-loaded — enter today's rate yourself from a source you trust (a bank, a licensed exchange, or a financial data provider). For reference, illustrative rates as of this writing: 1 USD ≈ 0.92 EUR, 1 USD ≈ 0.78 GBP, 1 USD ≈ 149 JPY — but these move constantly, so always check a live source before you rely on a number.
Why doesn't this currency converter have a live rate?
Exchange rates move constantly — sometimes by the minute — and different sources (your bank, a currency exchange, a market data provider) often quote slightly different numbers, especially for currencies with an official rate and a separate free-market rate. A converter that bakes in one “today's rate” is stale the moment it's published. So instead of guessing, this page asks you to enter the rate you just looked up from a source you trust, and it only does the two-way arithmetic for you.
That has two advantages: you're never misled by an outdated or wrong number baked into the page, and you can use it for any currency pair at all — not just a fixed list — because you type in the currency names yourself. Just enter the rate (how many units of currency B equal one unit of currency A), then type an amount into either amount field; the other field updates instantly. As a starting point, illustrative major-currency rates are shown above the calculator — always confirm the live rate before making a financial decision.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool have a live or built-in exchange rate?
No. This tool has no live exchange rate and does not store or assume any specific rate. You type in today's rate yourself from a source you trust, and the tool only performs the arithmetic.
Where do I get today's exchange rate?
From a reputable source you trust, such as a bank, a licensed currency exchange, or a financial data provider — rates can vary by source and change throughout the day, especially for currencies with an unofficial or free-market rate.
How is the rate defined in this tool?
The rate is how many units of currency B equal one unit of currency A. For example, if 1 unit of A equals 0.92 units of B, enter 0.92 as the rate.
Can I convert in both directions?
Yes. Enter an amount in either currency field and the other field updates instantly using the rate (or its inverse) you provided.
